Family and Friends Fun Rides
A collaboration was recently formed between North Country Hospital in Newport, Green Mountain United Way and The Village Bike Shop in Derby to promote bike riding for fun and a bit of exercise.
Every Thursday evening starting at 5:30, all are welcome to meet at the Newport Bike Path on Prouty Drive in Newport for a casual ride along beautiful Lake Memphremagog. The only requirements are that you have a bike and wear a helmet.
GMUW is proud to be a part of this effort to get people out for their health. It’s a wonderful way to get some exercise and fresh air and to meet new friends. Join us every Thursday from now until Oct. 2nd!
School is out, children are out playing, and families are on vacation. This is a special time of year for all of us when we can enjoy the summer. But, it is also a time when traffic is heavier, walkers and bicyclists are out in droves and the potential for accidents is higher.
We at GMUW ask that you be careful through the summer. Drive a little slower, be mindful of your children’s activities and exercise a little patience during commute times. We all want to have a fun time this summer without tragedy. Happy Summer!!
