Exercise for MS: How to Get Started

Free Teleconference Tuesday Night

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. EST, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation will present a free teleconference “Exercise for MS: The best way to get started” presented by Jeffrey A. Segal, CSCS*D, NSCA-CPT*D, CPTS.

At the age of 25, Jeff was diagnosed with MS. Within two years, he was spending the better part of his days in a wheelchair due to balance difficulties, partial paralysis, visual impairment, chronic fatigue, and a host of other symptoms common to those with MS. Jeff was unwilling to yield to the disease, and instead, launched his own wellness and rehabilitation program.
Today, Jeff is in top physical condition and has reclaimed his life through exercise, nutrition, and other wellness strategies. His outlook on life has also significantly improved. As a motivational speaker, Jeff’s earnestness, integrity, and candor reawaken hope and empower others. A 1998 graduate of Florida State University, Jeff became a Certified Personal Training Specialist. In 2004, Jeff founded Balanced Personal Training Inc., based in Boca Raton, to pursue his dream of empowering others in all stages of MS, as well as pre/post-rehabilitation, and helping physical needs of all people. His unique approach to training is geared toward improving function, range of motion, self-esteem, emotional wellness, and quality of life.

To participate in this teleconference, call 1-888-550-5602 up to five minutes before the start time and enter code 23441168. (You will be placed on hold until the presentation begins.) To view the presentation during the call, go to:

TOP STORY

Create an MS Blueprint to Celebrate World MS Day

World MS Day is a time to bring the multiple sclerosis (MS) community together to raise awareness and support those who are living with or affected by MS, so what better way to
celebrate than to create a new MS Blueprint™ that you can use with your loved ones?
When you are visiting MSBlueprint.com, we encourage you to also check out the blog, which is updated every month with new and exciting posts from Biogen and our partners, happiness expert and best-selling author Gretchen Rubin, Can Do MS, and the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN). These entries are designed to inspire and motivate you to achieve your best self. They cover a broad range of topics and tips, from how you can make the most out of every day with MS to how you can take control of your health during the busy summer months. This is a valuable resource, whether you’re looking to escape for a bit or reel in
some ideas to stimulate your life.
Be on the lookout this summer! You will also see a guest blog post from the MSF team! We’ve created a blog with five tips to beat the summer heat. We know the summer months bring BBQs and fun picnics in the park, but it also comes along with rising temperatures, so we have pulled together tips to help you prepare with how this may impact you if you’re living with MS.
We are also pleased to share that a new and exciting element has been added to the site. A rotating trending activities feature is now available on the MS Blueprint tool, which updates frequently to showcase the most popular activities that visitors chose.
This can serve as a fun way for you to see what has helped others and what may help you. Check back each week to see which activities are currently “trending” or “on the rise” among the MS Blueprint community. Remember that everyone’s experiences living with MS are different, so find the activities that are right for you.
Have fun exploring the latest updates to MSBlueprint.com!

Teleconference Series Continues
