Way To Go Vermont is holding its annual statewide commuter challenge from May 4th to the 15th as a way to get people to reduce their carbon emissions by using alternative means to get to work for at least a few days out of the year. You can sign up as an individual, a business or just build a team of friends and neighbors.
During the challenge, participants are asked to walk, bike, carpool, take a bus or telecommute to work at least a few days. You can log on to the website to record how you’re getting around and view real time stats including miles traveled and the impact NOT driving has on the environment, including how many CO2 emissions you’ve eliminated.
All participants are also entered to win cool prizes including ipads and a GoPro camera! Walking and biking to work is a great way to stay in shape, enjoy the warmer weather and take in the Spring air.
If you own a business, there are lots of ways you can encourage your staff to sign up like having your own prizes to give out, providing a gas card to employees who carpool or giving an extra day off to the person who reduces their carbon footprint the most.
